Saudi-led coalition conducts limited attacks on ships at Mukalla port
Coalition spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said the vessels, arriving from the UAE port of Fujairah on December 27–28, had entered Mukalla without official authorization from the coalition’s Joint Forces Command. The ships were reportedly unloading a large quantity of weapons and combat vehicles intended to support the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen’s eastern governorates of Hadramaut and Mahra, escalating local conflict.
Al-Maliki stated that the operation, conducted in compliance with international humanitarian law, aimed to neutralize the threat without causing collateral damage. He emphasized the coalition’s commitment to preventing unauthorized military shipments and de-escalating tensions in the eastern provinces.
No immediate comment was provided by the UAE. The strike follows heightened tensions after the STC seized control of Hadramaut and Al-Mahra earlier this month, amid ongoing disputes over southern autonomy.
